Jade & Company is an independent games studio created by Jade Meadows to provide a home for friends and colleagues that contribute to the development of her projects. We are a collective of artists, composers, and designers based all around the world.

Blue Ridge Hunting is an online co-op horror game. Up to 5 players will investigate, document, and hunt cryptids in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern America. Based on real sightings, phenomena, and legends from the region.

About the Role

We're searching for a community manager to help foster and build a community around Blue Ridge Hunting. Our ideal candidate has deep experience managing communities around indie games and is able to develop a strategy to help grow and promote the game. We're searching for someone who is highly communicative and can build a feedback loop between our community and production team to ensure our community is always at the center of our development decisions. We'd really like someone who is from, currently lives in, or has deep knowledge of the Appalachia region, but this is not a requirement.

Jade & Company is a tiny, fully remote team, and Blue Ridge Hunting is our first title. You'll be joining us as one of our earliest hires at the very beginning of what we expect to be a multi-year long public early access period. Expect to be building things from the ground-up as our team works to get Blue Ridge Hunting off the ground.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage a community of players around Blue Ridge Hunting across Discord, Reddit, and Steam.
• Operate and manage social media accounts on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Bluesky.
• Collaborate with the development team and our marketing/publishing partners at Six One Publishing on building campaigns around major game updates, events, and other key marketing beats.
• Plan and direct content including short-form videos, news posts, livestreams, etc to engage our community (we have editors & artists that can help you).
• Actively monitor community spaces and regularly relay reports on community sentiment, complaints, and suggestions to the production team.
• Create and support moderation within community spaces to foster a non-toxic environment where all are welcomed.
• Answer questions from players regarding game support, plans for future content, bug reporting, etc.
• Act as the public voice of Blue Ridge Hunting, fostering a relationship between our players and the production team to ensure community is always at the center of our decisions.

Requirements

• Previous experience managing large Discord communities.
• Experience with platforms including Reddit, TikTok, and Steam Community.
• Fluent in English with exceptional written and spoken communication skills.
• Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills.
• Able to take initiative and work autonomously as needed.
• You're a people person, easily able to get along with others and form relationships with people of all backgrounds.
• You live in the United States.

Bonus Points

• You're from or currently live in the Appalachia region.
• Graphic design/video editing experience.
• Able to communicate in language(s) besides English.
• Previous experience in the games industry/shipped at least one game.

Compensation

This is a part-time, contract-based position with an anticipated base of $30-40 hourly while our team works to get Blue Ridge Hunting off the ground. Our game launches this August, at which point we hope to expand this into a full-time, salaried role depending on candidate experience and performance of our game's launch. This is a fully remote position.
